October 2026 Release Notes
This release gives you more control over notifications, makes scheduling by subteam easier and improves accessibility across Cirrus Calm. It also includes planning improvements, security updates and bug fixes.
The update is scheduled to go live over the weekend of 31 October and 1 November 2026. No action is needed to receive it. Subteams are optional and only appear once an administrator creates them.
New Features
Notification centre

A new bell icon in the top bar shows unread notifications, including shift changes, newly published schedules, leave request submissions and updates, and new day notes. Each notification links directly to the relevant change.
Under My account > Notifications, choose whether to receive each notification type by email, in the app or not at all.

Administrators can choose whether to receive new and changed leave requests for the locations they manage, helping requests reach the people who handle them.
Organisation settings under Settings > Notifications control which notification types and channels are available. Employees cannot enable a channel that has been switched off at organisation level.
Subteams
Group employees within a location to make planning and reporting easier.

Administrators can create subteams under Employees > Subteams, then assign employees through their employee profiles.
The schedule and shift template group employees by subteam and include a subteam filter. In Automatically fill and Bulk change, select a whole subteam in one click, then add or remove individual employees as needed.
Subteams are also included in exports and statistics.
Accessibility improvements
Cirrus Calm now meets the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard. Improvements include:
- Screen reader support: Every button and field has a readable name, including buttons that only display an icon.
- Clear page structure: Each page has one main heading and sections that screen reader users can navigate.
- Better contrast: Text and interface colours have been adjusted to improve readability.
- Keyboard access: The schedule and occupation page can be fully edited without a mouse. A visible focus outline shows your current position.
- Keyboard guidance: The schedule help panel lists available keyboard actions and shortcuts.

- Accessible chart data: Open chart data as a table to read the figures with a screen reader.

The administrator environment has received the same accessibility improvements.
Everyday planning

Keep breaks when making bulk changes
By default, Bulk change now applies changes around existing breaks, keeping them in place. To overwrite breaks, such as when applying a full day of leave, change the Breaks option in the dialogue.
Clearer queue targets
Queue targets now display their unit, such as ‘seconds’, making the values easier to understand.
Integrations and security
Cirrus Halo connection restored
The Cirrus Halo REST pull connection works again, and saving its settings no longer produces an error.
Configurable Cirrus Halo endpoint
The connection address can now be configured to use a customer’s own Cirrus Halo endpoint.
Additional security protection
A web application firewall now protects Cirrus Calm, blocking common attacks before they reach the application.
Bug fixes
This release fixes issues where:
- Weekly flexible tasks were not scheduled in every week of a schedule covering several weeks.
- Automatically fill could fail on continuous schedules.
- The Automatically fill and Staffing template buttons disappeared in a continuous shift template after leaving the page without saving.
- The schedule date picker prevented users from selecting past dates.
- Notification panel borders were not visible.
